From the NAB: Planning the 75th Reunion

By Glenn Grow, Chair, National Alumni Board

Imagine life back in 1955.

“Rock Around the Clock” was the number one hit. Elvis Presley signed with RCA Records. The Mickey Mouse Club debuted on television. Joe DiMaggio and Marilyn Monroe were married. Rosa Parks refused to give up her bus seat.

John “Cap” and Marianne Andrews founded Sky Valley Ranch in a remote valley in Colorado, and thus, Adventure Unlimited was born.

Now fast forward to this year. Adventure Unlimited is celebrating 70 years of impacting the lives of Christian Scientists and their friends, everywhere. We look forward to the next milestone for Adventure Unlimited: the 75th alumni reunion during the summer of 2030.

Everyone who has ever attended an A/U Ranches program or DiscoveryBound event is considered an alum of Adventure Unlimited and will be invited to celebrate this 75th anniversary milestone at the A/U Ranches in Buena Vista, Colorado.

Although the reunion is five years out, the National Alumni Board is beginning to plan for this important event and would like to welcome other alumni volunteers to join in the process. You can indicate your interest in helping plan the reunion by completing this survey.

Opportunities to experience “Opening Windows to God”

Like the past 70 years, today’s programming is as strong and consequential as it has ever been. Here are a few happenings this fall and winter that may be just what you’re looking for.

The Christian Science Educators’ Community, which started in 2020, is now part of DiscoveryBound (DB) Outreach. A virtual summit for educators who are Christian Scientists will be held on November 7–8. Learn more here.

Soon, DB Outreach chapters across the country will host in-person and virtual Friendsgiving events to celebrate the Thanksgiving season and provide the opportunity for gathering and breaking bread. Stay up to date on our event calendar to learn more.

And then come January 29 – February 1, join the DB Outreach Adult Colorado Mountain Weekend Adventure (waitlist only!) for a joyful few days of winter fun, such as skiing/snowboarding, horseback riding, games, an inspirational talk, cross-country skiing, swimming, archery, crafts, indoor rock climbing, roller skating, and dog sledding!

At the A/U Ranches, there are just a few spots remaining for Bible Study and Christmas Camp. Both are great options for connecting with the spirit of the Christ amongst a loving community. You might consider participating in Christmas Camp as a volunteer, working half the program and participating as a guest for half the program at no cost.

Don’t miss your opportunity to participate and get involved as Adventure Unlimited alumni. The world awaits all the adventurers!
