Alumni Memories
I spent many years at the A/U Ranches. One consistent comment, heard over and over again from new comers and from people returning to the Ranches, was, “What is it about this place?”
MoreThe reunion was just one event. But the opportunity to reunite with old traditions, landscapes, activities and friends through the broad spectrum of Adventure Unlimited’s programs and to “become new” exists throughout the year. From local DiscoveryBound Outreach events to Family Camp and Christmas Camp, everything old becomes new again. […]
MoreOne summer, the counselors and staff decided that instead of Christmas in July, they would hold Thanksgiving in June. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, so I was thrilled. But I wasn’t so sure how it was going to fly with high school age campers. […]
MoreBeing at the A/U Ranches again after all those years – seeing so many dear friends and reminiscing about old times – brought Adventure Unlimited to the forefront of my mind again. It was a reminder of how my experiences at the A/U Ranches, spanning the ages of 11 through 22, influenced my life and set me on a path that would have been very different otherwise. […]
MoreOne summer morning, Shane Witters Hicks found himself running a new route that took him through mountain neighborhoods to a scenic, natural overlook of his hometown of Golden, Colorado. MoreI’ve always had fond memories of my time inside the ponderosa-dotted tree line tucked beneath Mt. Yale and Mt. Columbia that surrounds the A/U Ranches. After going to the Ranches for two years as a camper and three years on staff, it’s become a cherished place for me to come back to year after year. […]
MoreIt is clear that – like the wind we do not see, but which we observe in the way that it moves the leaves in an aspen grove or lifts the eagle on its thermals – Linda, too, continues to move our hearts and lift our expectations about generosity, joy and grace through her example. […]
MoreFor most kids, August means that it’s almost September, a.k.a. almost time for school. And, as nerdy as I was as a child, my excitement for the first day of school was rivaled by only one thing: the annual DiscoveryBound picnic. […]
