Alumni Getting Involved: Giving Back through Chapter Work
Long before she became a parent, Jessica Dees was looking out for her Sunday School students. “Middle school is a great time for them to know that there are other Christian Scientists around,” says Jessica, who has volunteered as a DiscoveryBound (DB) Outreach chapter worker in Jacksonville, Florida for the last 15 years.
Three Women, One Week and Lots of Memories
All three of us went to the A/U Ranches as kids, and two of us were counselors. It had been 48 years since we’d been back, and when we arrived at camp, the feeling was like coming home – only better.
NLC Classes Join in Prayer to Overcome Health Challenge
The first of four summer experiences for a teen in DiscoveryBound’s National Leadership Council (NLC) is a two-week outdoor adventure orientation. It’s an environment that brings together the two newest classes in person and kicks off their journey as a family. During their orientation last summer, the classes had an opportunity to rise up in support of one another when faced with a health challenge.
NLC: From Friends to Family
So there I was, on a busy street in a strange city, with five hours to round up a whole range of stuff from all over town with four other teenagers I only sort of knew. And it was one of the best and most meaningful days of my life.

Bridges to the Future Campaign Hits $12.8 Million
Two recent donations – a planned gift and an outright gift – have raised the total of Adventure Unlimited’s Bridges to the Future Campaign to within $3.7 million of its $16.5 million goal.

Get Involved with the A/U Ranches and DiscoveryBound
Stay connected with the people, activities and organization you love. Here are a few ways to do it: Join the A/U-DB Alumni Facebook Group, tell a young friend about a DiscoveryBound program, and come to Adult Mini Camp this month.
Preservation and Connections Shape NLC Alumni Service Trip
Our alumni group chose Catalina Island as a volunteer project because we wanted to learn more about the significance and principles of ecological preservation – a topic often discussed on the news and in politics. The trip also provided a special opportunity to connect with each other as students of Christian Science.
Never Too Grown Up to Have Fun
I have been involved with DiscoveryBound (DB) Outreach for 11 years as a teen participant, chaperone and volunteer. There are many reasons I keep coming back to give more to this wonderful organization, but one conversation in particular sticks out.
