Led Step by Step, at Camp and Beyond
Camp has been my way of measuring growth over the years, the various horses I rode acting as trail markers throughout my life. My most significant friendships have been formed at camp, important lessons have been learned at camp, and the best parts of myself were discovered and established while at camp.
Trailmarks 2017: Our Annual Report to You
Did Adventure Unlimited meet its goals last year? How are we doing at serving the Christian Science community? Read our fiscal report, overview of accomplishments, and – most importantly – healing accounts from six individuals who loved participating in our programs last year.
Wrangler Reunion 2018: Come on Home!
What was the name of your horse at camp? What was your favorite activity with him or her? Come share your experience with fellow wranglers at the A/U Ranches this August at the Wrangler Reunion, held during Adult Mini Camp. We’d love to introduce you to the next generation of horses!
Servant Leadership in Politics
Three alumnae of Adventure Unlimited programs who have embarked on careers in politics use listening as an invaluable tool to interact with their constituents. Each of these alumnae offer different perspectives of what has remained with them since their time at camp or in DiscoveryBound (previously known as A/U chapter programs), but all in some way recognized the importance of listening.
Living Generously with Each Other and the World
Jeni and I took a few minutes recently to ask ourselves what it has meant to be able to give our time, treasure and talent to Adventure Unlimited – what is it that got us going, kept us going and has us excited for this year of service to the organization?
Alumni Profiles: Where Are They Now?
Zipline catches up with alumni of the A/U Ranches and DiscoveryBound: Cindy Crockett, Mike and Diane Holland, and Pete Husak.
10 Ways to Live Generously with Your Adventure Unlimited Community this Year
#3: Volunteer. Make a difference for a young person’s spiritual growth in a DiscoveryBound program or at the A/U Ranches as a bunkhouse parent. Want to get away? Help us get ready for Youth Camp at Memorial Day Service Weekend.
Living Generously at the A/U Ranches
Living generously is what camp is all about. In so many ways, camp opens the door (or window) to a view of life that is focused on the other, on giving. I remember during my first years on staff, this passage from Mrs. Eddy becoming my guiding focus, “…blessed is that man who seeth his brother’s need and supplieth it, seeking his own in another’s good.” (S&H 518:17-19) I loved the opportunity to serve that camp offered and continues offering today.
The In-between Time
There are snow showers some days, other days sunshine and warmth to melt it away. Most of the country enjoys joyful peeks at spring in between leftover patches of winter. Now it is the in-between time, when we begin to think about warmer days, adventures ahead of us, perhaps recalling memories of backpacking trips, paddling on the river or riding horses to campsites high in the evergreens.
Why I Support Capital Improvement Projects
My involvement with Adventure Unlimited started in the early 1960s, when Cap Andrews asked if I would help start a mountaineering program. John Andrews Jr. and I started the program the next summer.
